Broekman Logistics and NKC bring 84 motorhomes back home

Today 84 motor homes left from Casablanca on a cargo ship bound for Amsterdam. These motor homes were still in Morocco after the Dutch owners were repatriated by flight in March when a state of emergency was declared with regard to covid-19. With the unique logistic operation of the Dutch Camper Club (NKC) and Broekman Logistics, the waiting of the owners comes to an end.

Best option per ship

The state of emergency and a negative travel advice, however, continued to apply to Morocco throughout the year. To ensure that the motor homes still return to their owners this year, the NKC set up the complex logistic operation organised by Broekman Logistics, in collaboration with  the Dutch embassy in Morocco and insurers Aon and asr. Stan Stolwerk, director NKC: “In March this year it was unpredictable that Morocco would remain closed for so long. Unfortunately, people have had to miss their camper for more than half a year. We investigated various options and a shipping campaign was the best option to get the campers back to the Netherlands.”

Complex logistic challenge comes to a conclusion by good collaboration

After Broekman Logistics worked out the large-scale logistics plan, it was presented at an information meeting about the operation in October, hosted by Broekman Logistics as well. Afterwards, 84 motor home users signed in, after which the process of complex customs formalities followed. In the meantime, the motor homes have been driven to the port in convoys by local drivers under the supervision of the local agent of the transport company (Transport Marocains SA). At the port of Casablanca the motor homes were driven on board of the Grande Luanda, a RoRo vessel of the shipping company Grimaldi Lines. “The boat is expected to arrive at the port of Amsterdam in early December, where the participants will be reunited with their motor home. All in all, a complicated logistical challenge that comes to a successful conclusion thanks to the close cooperation between all parties involved ”, says Nadine Woord, Ocean Operations Manager at Broekman Logistics.
