Broekman Logistics Antwerp scores above average on SQAS

News

SQAS stands for Safety and Quality Assessment for Sustainability and is tested every three years. During the last measurement the Antwerp site, at that time still part of the VLS-Group, scored an overall score of 65%. In 2019, Broekman Logistics Antwerp scores with 82% higher than the average logistics services provider.

Anton van Dongen, Director Operations, states that the increase is due to various improvements that have been made since Broekman Logistics has taken over the Belgian activities from the VLS-Group. ‘’This score-improvement marks an important step in strengthening the trust of existing customers, as well as making the organisation attractive for potential new customers. As an organisation, we have made a joint effort for implementing initiatives of all kinds. Through various improvement projects and investments, we have succeeded in optimising our business operations’’ says van Dongen.

This score not only compliments the efforts in Antwerp, complex safety and sustainability challenges are being assessed across the entire organisation of Broekman Logistics. The SQAS score fits well with the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report, that was introduced by the company in 2019. The CSR report assed all of the companies’ activities of 2018 in the Netherlands on the basis of the internationally renowned Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standard reference indicators.

The achieved SQAS-score will be valid for the coming three years. The organisation has the ambition to use the upcoming period to further develop the optimisation plans and intends to continue this positive course in 2020. “This is a great result that we can be proud of as a company. We show our resilience, during a year where change was the guiding principle, we have not lost sight of our goal. That commitment is now being rewarded’’ concludes Anton van Dongen.
