We extended the cold storage capacity for our hazardous goods specialised warehouse in Antwerp. We switched from the classic synthetic refrigerant R-134a to a new installation with CO2 as the refrigeration medium. Classic synthetic refrigerants are becoming more and more expensive lately, this is because they are harmful to the environment. As a result, research into CO2 – a natural and environmentally friendly gas – as a refrigerant has increased enormously, and the technology is now fully developed.
In addition to expanding our cold capacity, we have also extended our environmental permit. With this expansion we are responding to the growth of existing strategic customers who have tripled their volume of cooled storage and with whom we have renewed our 20-year partnership for the coming years.
We also create additional capacity for new customers.
The cooled storage in combination with our very extensive Seveso permit offers a unique opportunity to our customers to store their very specific ADR products with us in a cooled environment.
