From 1 to 8 October 2025, China celebrates Golden Week, one of the country’s most important national holidays. The week begins with National Day on 1 October, marking the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949. What started as a political commemoration has become a period of nationwide celebration, with families travelling across the country, cultural events filling the streets, and traditions such as parades, fireworks and seasonal dishes being enjoyed together.
While millions celebrate, factories and offices close their doors, and logistics operations temporarily slow down. This creates a short but noticeable pause in production and transport flows, which can have a ripple effect on international supply chains.
