Today Broekman Logistics & Heylen Warehouses opened their brand new masterpiece of 65.0000m2 warehousing in Venlo with a festive opening. The management of both companies, together with deputy Joost van den Akker and alderman Erwin Boom held a speech for about 200 guests. The state-of-the-art warehouse, that complies with the strictest safety norms for storage of hazardous goods, became the stage of a sparkling opening ceremony for one day.
Broekman Logistics will use the logistics campus in Venlo for storage, logistics and assembly activities of various products including hazardous (ADR) goods. The total warehousing surface amounts 53.000 m2 and was built on the former project location of DSM Pharma Chemicals in Venlo. Furthermore, over 10.000 m2 of mezzanine floors and 2.500 m2 office space are available. In the long term, the entire operation should generate around 300 jobs.
“We are proud to now also be located in Venlo and to contribute to the strengthening of logistics in Limburg. This triple-AAA high profile location is ideally situated – the barge terminal and rail terminal are around the corner of our site just as the A67 and A73. The extension of warehousing capacity in Venlo is part of Broekman Logistics’ growth strategy “ says Willem Jan van Amersfoort, Managing Director Warehousing & Distribution at Broekman Logistics.
“This warehouse is used to store different material than in a regular warehouse”, explains Ralph Caspanni, CEO of Heylen Warehouses. “This building is suitable for storing and handling a large quantity and variety of dangerous and non-dangerous goods.” To ensure a safe way of operating, Heylen Warehouses applied their expertise and know-how for the development of an environmental secured warehouse.”
“The ultramodern warehouse is designed to be 30cm liquid-tight and has special industrial doors with a liquid barrier to prevent all forms of leaks into the environment. Furthermore, two extinguishing systems are available, one on water and one on gas, as some products cannot come into contact with water. The warehouse is also highly compartmentalised so in case of calamities the goods in the other compartments remain unaffected. “These measures are needed to ensure the safety of people, goods, and the environment,” Caspanni emphasises.
This brand new warehouse in Venlo enables Broekman Logistics to keep moving forward in offering combined storage solutions. Broekman Logistics’ combined storage locations are located in logistics hotspots in the BeNeLux. With this warehouse, the logistics services provider can offer its customers the opportunity to directly and easily serve the European market. All locations meet the strictest safety and environmental standards.
Four themes are central: Combination, Compliant, Customised and Coordinates, derived from the BLUE4C concept of Broekman Logistics.
During a tour through the warehouse, all attendees have the opportunity to experience the possibilities regarding the storage of hazardous and non-hazardous goods themselves.
Afterwards, there is an opportunity to catch up informally while enjoying local specialities.
