“High Praise for Training and HR Policies”

Broekman Logistics has risen to the 15th position in this year’s Top 100 Logistics Service Providers. The company’s impressive scores in HR policy innovations and IT have largely contributed to this achievement.

Top 100 Logistics Service Providers

The Top 100 Logistics Service Providers, compiled annually by Buck Consultants International, is based on independent research. This index considers factors such as revenue and labour market policies of logistics service providers active in the Netherlands. Last year, Broekman Logistics held a commendable 17th place. This year, the company has leapt to the 15th position, thanks to numerous innovations in HR policies, training, and personal development. Additionally, the company’s use of IT has been highly praised.

“We are, of course, delighted with this position on the list,” says CEO Rik Pek. “However, what makes us most proud is not our rank but being the best in the categories that matter most to us and our clients.” According to Pek, Broekman Logistics’ two 5-star and two 4-star ratings confirm that the organisation is on the right track.

People & Culture

Performance reviews receive significant attention within the organisation, with the ‘Talent Excellence’ tool playing a crucial role. This application translates employees’ growth ambitions and study wishes into personal plans with interim evaluations. “This fosters development and growth within our company,” says Marlous van der Mee, Global Head of People at Broekman Logistics. Various career development programmes support the personal growth of Broekman Logistics employees. Van der Mee explains, “We offer future leaders both internal and external training and coaching to explore growth opportunities within our Dutch locations.”

In 2023, the organisation launched several team-building initiatives, including “The Challenge” for management team members and off-site team-building activities such as sports events and knowledge-sharing sessions for all employees. “These initiatives promote collaboration and a positive work environment.”

Safe Working Environment

“Lastly, we have invested in ergonomic improvements and innovative training technologies, such as VR training programmes in Venlo,” reflects Pek. “Our Light-to-Light order picking system increases efficiency and reduces physical strain by minimising the number of actions, bending, and lifting required.”

Data Security

None of these innovations would be possible without robust and reliable digital platforms. “It’s not just about taking important initial steps with artificial intelligence,” says Marcel Hellinga, General Manager IT at Broekman Logistics, “but our security and privacy policies are equally important.” Employees regularly receive training to recognise spam, and the company collaborates closely with external specialists to maintain top-level data security.

Together, we look beyond logistics

Through these measures and programmes, Broekman Logistics ensures an attractive, safe, and development-oriented work environment for all its employees. “At Broekman Logistics, we continually strive for improvement,” emphasises Pek. “This way, we create a safe and pleasant working environment for our employees now and in the future.”
